Now in our third year, Rock-n-Worship Camp, a Christian rock band day camp for youth ages 11-18, is coming back to Salisbury, Maryland, June 24-28.

At Rock-n-Worship Camp, campers learn musically, grow spiritually, develop their musical skills playing modern worship music, make new friends, and have a whole lot of fun doing it.

Rock-n-Worship Rockers!

Class of 2012 Rock-n-Worship Rockers!

The Rock-n-Worship Rock Band Camp (formerly School of Rock Worship) returns to Salisbury as  a one week summer day camp for young musicians.

Camp will run Monday June 24 through Friday June 28

Youth an awesome experience playing musical instruments in a rock band setting using contemporary worship music as the basis.

Students choose an instrument track they like (vocal, guitar, bass, keys, drums or other instrument).

Beginner and advanced level instruction is offered,  no prior experience is necessary to be in the camp. Students will experience authentic , excellent worship music modeled and then be trained in how to do that.

Everyone will play a live concert in front of an audience of friends and family at the end of the week.

The camp is open for ages 11-18.

Leadership

Director of the Rock-n-Worship camp is Rob Still, (http://robstill.com) a Nashville music producer, songwriter and worship pastor. Rob has over 20 years of experience in youth ministry training young worship musicians. His former students have gone on to play for artists such as Paul Baloche, Matt Redmond, Kim Walker (Jesus Culture), Jason Upton, Kelly Clarkson and Michael W. Smith.  Rob has an international worship teaching ministry (http://robstillministries.org) and has a passion for youth, worship and music.

Additional staff will be announced prior to camp.

Well the Rock-n-Worship Camp 2012 edition concluded with a high energy night of joyful worship.

Save the dates for next year’s camp! June 24-28, 2013. Whoot!

Throughout the week we learned about biblical worship, developed practical musical skills, enjoyed fun and games and worked really hard on the repertoire.

Our campers were blessed to be served by passionate and highly skilled coaches.

Everyday began with morning worship, scripture and devotional thought.

Monday

Heart: Rob taught from Mark 12:30, “Putting the First Commandment in First Place”,
Head: Music Machine game, The Number System
Hands: 1 hr Morning class,  1 hr Afternoon class, 1 hr Super Group

Tuesday

Heart: Jillian taught on “Sacrifice” and “What Is Worship?”
Head: Music Machine game & The Number System

Wednesday

Heart: Brian taught about “Surrender” from Revelation 4
Head: The Karate Chop game, Rhythm Basics
Hands: 1 hr Morning class,  1 hr Afternoon class, 1 hr Super Group

Thursday

Heart: Rob taught from Romans 12:1-2 “Worship Is All of Life”
Head: Jillian & Rob taught about sound waves with video examples, Introduced “The Earth Is Yours” song outside
Hands: 1 hr Morning class,  1 hr Afternoon class, 1 hr Super Group

Friday:

Heart: extended worship time, Jillian taught on expressing passion in worship
Head: Watched video “What Is The Gospel?”
Hands: Extended Rehearsal for the Worship Celebration

Friday we enjoyed a great taco dinner from Maria Waller, relaxed with the movie “Horton Hears A Who”, then had a photo shoot with Melissa Goodyear (link coming!)

What a great culmination of the Heart, Head and Hands teaching and coaching approach. The week was a smashing success!

School of Rock Worship II

Date: June 25 – June 29, 2012

The School of Rock Worship II Band Camp returns to Salisbury as  a one week summer day camp for young musicians.

Schedule:

Monday  June 25 10:00am – 4:00 pm (Arrival and Check-In 9:15 – 9:50 am)

The first day we will evaluate skill levels, form our teams and pick songs. Each team will work on 3 – 4 songs during the week.

Throughout the camp, we will have short seminars on subjects such as:

  • what is worship;
  • music fundamentals,
  • understanding the roles of each instrument;
  • songwriting,  and
  • coaching on how to play together as a group.

Tuesday through Friday 10:00 am – 4:00 pm

School of Rock Worship Band Camp hours will run from 10:00am to 4:00pm Monday through Friday.

A typical day:

  • begins with a short group worship time and teaching,
  • followed with instrument-specific instruction focused on song learning and instrument proficiency.
  • The morning schedule also includes a series of ensemble rehearsals, and live stage performance classes.
  • After lunch there are additional instruction classes,
  • interactive song-writing sessions,
  • band rehearsals, and
  • more on-stage performance time.
  • We’ll mix it up with breaks and some “just for fun” group activities.

Friday Night Concert 6pm – 7:30 pm

The week will culminate in a Friday night  “worship concert” for the entire camp, family, and friends.

Students will receive certificates of graduation.

Amazing how the time has FLOWN BY and how much fun we’ve had. The concert is Friday night 6pm at Sonlife Church in Salisbury, Md, 6975 Grenada Drive, Salisbury, MD 21804

Morning Warm-up

Heart:

Today in our study of David we discussed how worship is “all about God”. God reveals who He is and what He is like – worship is our response. We looked at the various names and attributes of God and the Hebrew words translated as praise and worship.
